Domino’s online ordering platform adds what3words location tech

what3words is being made available to Domino’s Pizza international franchisees.

Those using the company’s Global Online Ordering (GOLO) platform will be able to add a what3words address field at checkout.

The latter has divided the globe into a grid of 3m x 3m squares, and given each one a unique combination of three words, a what3words address, with the aim of achieving efficient and accurate deliveries.

what3words has been  piloted in Domino’s franchises in the UK, North America and Saudi Arabia.

Chris Sheldrick, Co-founder and CEO, what3words, says: “Wherever you live, hot pizza is so much better than cold pizza because the driver got lost finding your door.”

“It’s really important that customers receive their order in good time, and drivers should be able to navigate to their destination with ease. We’re so excited to globally roll-out what3words to Domino’s international franchisees and customers.”

$3 tip, anyone?

Domino’s Pizza carry out customers who order online can now claim a $3 tip to use on their next purchase.

“It takes skill to get pizza from a Domino’s store to your door,” says Art D’Elia, Domino’s Executive President – Chief Marketing Officer.

“As a reward, we are giving a $3 tip to online carry out customers who take the time and energy out of their day to act as their own delivery drivers. After all, we think they deserve it.”

Carry out customers who order online now through to 22nd May are eligible to claim the $3 coupon code, which is redeemable for another online carry out order placed the following week (with a minimum purchase of $5 before tax and gratuity).

“Domino’s carry out tips come just in time for the biggest football game of the year, which is also one of the busiest days of the year for pizza,” says D’Elia.

“Domino’s typically sells about two million pizzas on football’s favourite Sunday, so if you’re throwing a party and feeding hungry fans, make it a carry out order and get tipped. Then you can treat yourself to a delicious pizza with a great deal the week after.”
