Co-op and Starship expand robot grocery delivery service in Northamptonshire

Co-op and Starship Technologies have partnered with North Northamptonshire Council to roll-out autonomous grocery delivery to residents across Wellingborough, Higham Ferrers and Rushden in Northamptonshire

The service started last week and the partnership will see up to 45,000 residents in 33,000 households able to access on-demand delivery from four Co-op stores located in Olympic Way and, Northern Way, Wellingborough; Grangeway, Rushden and High Street, Higham Ferrers.

Studenac Market and Wolt partner on Croatian dark stores

Studenac Market, Croatia’s largest retailer by number of stores, has teamed up with Wolt, a European delivery platform, to launch dark stores offering grocery products.

Studenac will provide the products and equipment, while Wolt will take responsibility for logistics and delivery.

The first dark stores will be opened in the Adriatic coast city of Split in late July, and in Croatia’s capital Zagreb in early August. Users will be able to order products via Wolt, and the latter will provide delivery in 30 minutes or less.

Aldi Nord tests out Trigo powered autonomous store in Utrecht

Aldi Nord has opened an Aldi Shop & Go store in the Dutch city of Utrecht.

This is a 370㎡ (3,982 square feet) AI powered location where shoppers can walk in, select their items, and walk out without having to queue at the checkout lane or scan any items.

In its largest store format to date, Trigo applies its algorithms to shelf sensors and ceiling mounted cameras which analyse anonymised shoppers' movements and product choices.

Payments and receipts are settled digitally.

DPD UK teams with Quadient on network of smart parcel lockers

Parcel delivery firm DPD has partnered with Quadient to access a new UK wide network of smart parcel lockers. 

Quadient will initially install 500 contactless locker stations this year, with a plan for 5,000 in the coming years. 

200 of the initial installations will be 24/7 outdoor facilities, and locations could include shopping precincts, housing estates, serviced car parks and higher education sites. 

Parcel recipients will be able to select a locker delivery from their DPD delivery notifications.

They will then receive a confirmation once the parcel is in the locker and can access their parcel using a one-time PIN or by scanning the QR code in the notification to open the correct door. 

Grocery app Yuu teams with same-day delivery firm Gophr in Glasgow

Scottish grocery app Yuu has announced a partnership with last mile, on-demand delivery company Gophr.

Yuu, a subsidiary of United Wholesale Scotland, is working with Gophr to deliver everyday essentials from over 70 convenience stores across Glasgow with plans to roll the service out across Scotland by the end of 2022.

The partnership will allow for a one hour customer promise within a two mile radius of each participating store and a returns API functionality.

Morrisons extends Worldline in-store payments partnership

Morrisons is adopting Worldline’s Lane/3000 PIN Pad as a core part of its in-store payment system.

This will help the UK grocery giant manage the millions of multi-lane, self-check and restaurant transactions that are processed each day, enabling consumers to pay faster at the tills and reduce overall waiting times. 

Worldline has been supplying the PIN Pad interface between Morrisons and its card holding customers since the introduction of PIN verification.

The deployment of the new Lane/3000 PIN Pad commenced in stores in September 2021.

Lifetime Brands Europe deploys Origin from Retail247

Lifetime Brands Europe has selected Origin from Retail247 to provide the platform for all new product development.

Simon Owen, Head of Business Transformation at Lifetime Brands Europe, says: “Selecting Origin was ultimately an easy choice, existing functional capability delivered by a friendly and empathic team will deliver the business benefit we need.”

3D Cloud by Marxent notches up a Google Cloud Marketplace first

3D Cloud by Marxent has become the first and only 3D enterprise platform available on Google Cloud Marketplace. 

Google Cloud customers can now subscribe to the entire 3D Cloud portfolio of apps through the marketplace in order to simplify procurement and consolidate billing through their existing Google Cloud account. 

Lakeland taps Rotageek workforce management technology

Workforce scheduling company, Rotageek, has added Lakeland, a chain of British kitchenware stores in the United Kingdom, to its client list.

In a LinkedIn post, the latter said: “We'd like to give a warm welcome to Lakeland who have chosen Rotageek to stir up their scheduling.”

“After being bowled over by our ease of use and top drawer support function, Lakeland selected the Geeks to optimise their retail rotas for 950 staff across 65 UK stores. We're excited to set to work together.”

Payzone teams with Jisp to launch connected shopping services

Jisp and Payzone have partnered to allow UK retailers to offer integrated home delivery, Click and Collect, Scan and Save and store specific loyalty services, in addition to accessing brand rewards and content.

Payzone retailers will be able to use Jisp’s Scan & Save solution, via the Payzone Plus device.

Jisp will promote leading promotions in-app and online to drive shoppers to their local Scan & Save store.

Love’s Travel Stops to deploy Jamba by Blendid robotic smoothie kiosks

Blendid and Jamba have announced plans to expand their Jamba by Blendid autonomous robotic kiosk locations to Love’s Travel Stops, building on initial deployments in retail locations and college campuses.

The first kiosk piloted at a Love’s Travel Stop will open this summer in Williams, CA, just outside of Sacramento, marking an expansion into rest area locations.
